C-Vue Advanced HydraVue Silicone Hydrogel Custom Contact Lenses Debut

February 2, 2011
C-Vue Advanced HydraVue line of silicone hydrogel custom contact lenses, by Unilens

Unilens Vision Inc. has launched the C-Vue Advanced HydraVue line of silicone hydrogel custom contact lenses, for monthly replacement.

The new custom contacts include made-to-order single vision and toric single vision options for correction of nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism, and multifocal and toric multifocal designs for correction of presbyopia and presbyopia with astigmatism.

All four monthly replacement lens options are completely customizable and will be sold exclusively through independent eye care professionals. The multifocal and toric multifocal C-Vue Advanced HydraVue lenses allow for specification of exact add powers (for near vision) and reading zone sizes, for greater presbyopic patient satisfaction, says the company.

The new lenses are the result of a partnership between Unilens and Contamac, the U.K.-based manufacturer of a new silicone hydrogel material called Definitive, which makes lens customization possible. The Definitive material has a high water content (74 percent) and oxygen permeability, with the goal of providing excellent wearing comfort.
